[EXPIRED] USAA Member hotels 40% off

I'm not sure this is the correct forum, so please move if needed.

USAA members (or if you join) can get 40% off (not up to, straight 40%) hotels. The details are noted on a couple of the blogs. You do prepay but there is a lot of language that states the amount is refundable if cancelled one or two days before. The base prices are slightly higher than what I found on Kayak, but the deal seems to be a good one.

The more impressive part to me is that I got it to work on a couple of higher-end, independent hotels that won't even show up on Kayak.

Red face

Just booked Hilton Tokyo for $150 nightly, Ritz Carlton Cancun for $120 nightly and Four Seasons Beverly Hills for $200 nightly.

It's the best across the board deal I've seen since the travelocity amex/facebook 40% off from two years ago. It's already posted on fatwallet the past 24 hours which mean it'll probably be dead soon, or the price will be jacked up drastically to compensate.

It's pretty much dead now cause you have to spend $500 minimum. Code USAA1 that is.

Note the $500 spend is the total bill, not per night. Taxes were included to get to the $500. Not sure about resort-type fees.

The deal does seem to be geared towards multi-night stays at higher priced hotels. I read somewhere the $500 min was not there yesterday.

One of the blogs had how to login without using your SSN. Try Slick Deals or one of the Boarding Area blogs.

I've been a USAA member for ~20 years and this is the first I have heard of this deal. Unfortunately, the explorecruisetravel website dies anytime you attempt a hotel search.

Has anybody completed a stay with this rate yet?

Have questions. If I will book Hyatt, will I receive stay credit and points?

Booked 2 stays. One saved ~$900 and the other ~$450 vs booking at Marriott.com directly with corporate or AA rates.

From what I've gathered, you likely will not receive stay credit nor points, but will probably get any benefits for your status level.

I've seen some hotels on the site be higher than the regular search results on Kayak. Pay attention to whether it can be canceled or if non-refundable. There are still some bargains to be had, but the best deals were before they instituted the $500 minimum.

I was looking at booking a night @ Westin for $120 after discount, but sadly waited and now the $500 minimum means it's a no go. The price also increased $20 from when I last searched the Explore site.

I just booked 4 nights at the Regent Singapore for just under $700, including tax.

Seems like a good deal, but no risk since rate is fully refundable.

Thanks, OP!
