I'm looking at a hotel in San Diego for this weekend.

On Hilton.com, it comes up to $117 with taxes. On hotelcashcard.com, it comes up to $127 (so $10 in additional fee but save $82, so net it's still $72 ahead). Is it too good to be true?

Cool

You bought one in the past. Was it a good deal then?
Frankly, it sounds fishy to me.

no min spend, and valid for 1 night stays? what is the catch here?

can this be real?

edit: just checked for 2 destinations - san francisco and tel aviv. they only have extremely expensive hotels available. nothing even close to 100 USD/night.

hilton bogota is $ 209, whereas it is only $ 99 on expedia.com on a refundable rate.

Can I buy it?
Is HotelCashCard delivered by email?

I live outside the United States. Thinking of buying it if it is sent to me by email and can use it electronically on their web site.

I bought 2 x $50 cards for $12.50 each the last time. I ended up using one for the Palms in Vegas and saved ~$35 off their best rate on the internet.

Know what. It's only $18. Let me try now. Of course just a Bankofamerica generate a card feature so that they won't overcharge me.

Did you use the other one? Or did they prove their business model that a lot of cards will never be redeemed? Just interested...

I used the other one for Honolulu.

I just submitted payment for got the following message:

Payment Accepted. Please allow 2 business days for your order to be processed. You will then receive an email with your Hotel Cash Card number and Restaurant.com card number

So we've to wait a see. Anyway, max lost is $18. If it works, it'll benefit other FT'ers.

It looks like they won't show hotels unless the total is $100 or more. I was able to find a Toronto airport property I was eyeing that totaled to $100.40. Only $10 more than booking direct. Will see.

Looks like they cap discount at 8% now?

discount seems to be capped at 8% per booking.

This is the 2nd post I've seen in a relatively short time with regard to "Saveology." Coincidence?

My experience with them has been mixed. Had a good deal or two but that was over a year ago. On the other hand, sometimes I did not get the voucher in my account. Emailing was all but useless and the responses that I received were haphazard at best.

My advice is to proceed with caution. If the pricing on the hotels is as described in the previous post (and I have no reason to doubt, just don't want to look it all up) then I would stay clear.

As far as I read it, you will only get a discount of up to 8 percent per booking. so you have to stretch those 100 USD over 12 bookings or so...

Ouch! Should have read all the T&C first.

Their mark up is ~8-10%, so pretty much you broke even and they pocket all the commissions.
