another stupid question
hi guys
i can see that Emirates has a special designated gate at HKG, G62, for A380 flights.i am flying EK385 to BKK next week.
how long it will take after clearing immigration to reach the gate? 5-10 minutes?
is it straightforward or i need to take escalator?
i am on a very tight schedule and surprises are not welcome...

After clearing immigration, 10 minutes is doable but would require the confluence of no ondulators, zigzaggers, drifters and assorted human flotsam blocking your way, off the train ASAP and first up the escalator. If you really wanted 10 minutes for sure, you should probably take one those buggies that are available right after immigration. But it'll cost ya, and I don't know how long the wait would be for one once you get to the buggy station.

The buggies are HK$50 per person, and there always have been some hanging around whenever I have passed the station -- possibly because for that short ride, it's a huge ripoff.

I think the buggie ride is now 60

And please add at least another 20 mins or so to clear immigration after that when travelling during peak periods. Then take escalator down and you can see the buggies. If its there, you can just hop on for HK$60. If not and you have to wait, its probably easier to take the trains.
