Recent Gold Question Re Room Upgrade OR Breakfast

Be aware that this rule only applies to north american properties. On a recent stay in CMB I was upgraded to a mediocre suite but declined breakfast - this seems to be in-line with HH Terms but never ever happened to me in before. Might be a new enhancement or just the very greedy interpretation of the local Manager.
For example, at the Hilton Gaslamp San Diego, I received a room upgrade (11th floor corner suite) and free breakfast coupons for the restaurant for my entire four-night stay.

At Hilton Glasgow a few months ago I was denied both breakfast and upgrade (as a Diamond). This was because BF is only included if you get an upgrade to the exec floor. No lounge access either because of no upgrade, so therefore no breakfast. I declared that with absolutely no benefits I might as well go to another hotel (maybe silly, but I was furious and spoke from my heart) and they said they will organise something. They had some wine and chocolate sent to my standard room.

Hilton Fiji recently gave me as diamond an upgrade to next available room type but no breakfast.son in law as gold had breakfast included in rate and got no upgrade or any other recognition.It seems that individual managers interpret the conditions as they wish.Sent my thoughts to GM and hilton but no reply from either.
