I saw the Doubletree, but stayed at the Embassy Suites in late May. The Hilton, Doubletree, and Embassy Suites are all fairly close. I think I posted a trip report, if you are interested in that property.

Just a quick note, I ended up having to cancel my trip here due to airport delays. I was due in on a Friday. I called at 11:30pm Friday night and explained my situation; despite the very late notice they were kind enough to cancel my reservation without charge.

I guess we had been on the same boat.

Repost: Enjoy Toronto

There are not many 4-star hotels on the falls. Doubletree is one of them, but the hotel is the furthest away from the Canadian horseshoe. Hilton Fallsview Hotel is still our number 1 choice!

It is quite a good hotel but I don't feel that they value the Gold VIP guests comparing to other Hilton family hotels at the falls. HHonor Gold VIP meaning the guest had stayed in Hilton properties for more than a month in the previous year! We didn't receive any room upgrade. The staff claimed that they were full. Late checkout was not possible neither. Here is all we got:

* Continental breakfast. The voucher states specifically that it is limited to 2 bakery items. The orange juice was just Tropicana. The coffee is no way taste like Starbuck that they advertised.
* Two complimentary bottled water. It is not in-room bottled water. The voucher can be redeemed at the tiny small lobby lounge.

I recently stayed at this hotel and can report the following:

- There are effectively no Diamond benefits at this hotel. Diamonds are treated the same as Golds and Golds are treated very poorly indeed.

- I booked a 2 Queen Bed (my profile preference states King) and their concept of an upgrade was the EXACT same room type on a higher floor. I asked them if they had King rooms available and they said yes, several, but said (as Diamond) I would have to pay $60CAD to upgrade to one.

- Other members have mentioned issues with parking. I was charged for parking. I took exception with this, mainly because I had no car.

- Mineral water? Get it yourself from the lobby cafe with a voucher.

- AVEDA Spa is 1 small room at the back of the lobby with some treatment cubicles. It is not a proper spa.

- The pool area was over-run with children and opens late in the morning (8AM).

- As stated earlier, breakfast vouchers were Continental and that selection is extremely limited. For example cereal, yogurt etc, are NOT part of the continental breakfast and require an upgrade fee. OVerall the breakfast selection is pretty bad, not typical Hilton Breakfast standard. Also, you cannot order/request things like eggs benedict etc. Aside from simple eggs, if it is not in the buffet you can't get it.

- Location is not great. I have not stayed at the other properties but by simple observation the Hilton has the best location.

- Late check-out of any kind was refused without even checking the computer. "We're not doing late check-outs, your check-out time will be 11AM" was their response to my polite request. Diamond VIP means nothing to them.

Anyone who would like to receive tangible HHonors benefits should avoid this hotel. DO NOT STAY HERE.

I'll be at the ES Niagara Fallsview in April: if anyone has recent intel worth knowing, I'd appreciate it. I understand the parking across street at public garage saves from slow Valets and extortion rates. They had a good package with dinner at the Keg Steakhouse tossed in, so went for that to nab points on dinner as well...

Haven't stayed at the Doubletree in NF, but comments here recently mentioning the Hilton Fallsview and nearby ES prompts me to chime in.

Recent stay at the Hilton on a comped night from the Fallsview Casino Resort across the street. When we called to book (via the casino) I asked if they would be able to put my HHonors number into the reservation. They did and my request for a king bed, high floor in the new north tower got us a nice suite at the end of the hallway with a partial view of the falls (casino tower across the street partially blocks the view) and in-room jacuzzi. Comped buffet breakfast was more then sufficient, and complimentary large bottle of Evian water in the room.

Next night we had a paid stay at the ES, and although we've stayed there in the past, we found the Hilton to be a better choice. Rooms at the ES are getting a bit tired, staff seemed a bit cold, if professional. Room was fine with an excellent view of both falls, and a jacuzzi. The buffet breakfast wasn't as good as that at the Hilton, and it's now in the Keg Steakhouse on the 9th floor, whereas it used to be better when it was at the TGIF's. Noticed too a large bottle of Evian water in the room, and it's a good thing we looked at the hangtag on the bottle before opening it. While the same bottle was free at the Hilton, it was $5.00 at the ES.

I got the Hilton Honors points and miles as expected for the paid ES stay, but was surprised to find that a small charge that I had put on the bill at the Hilton got both the Honors points, airline miles and stay credit, even though it was a comped stay. Didn't expect that, as I read on another thread that this doesn't usually happen.

Re the parking charges for most hotels in the area: If you're staying near the Fallsview Casino, park in their covered parking garage directly across from the Hilton. Regular parking charge is $5.00, but if you play at the casino, get the free players card and that will get you free parking in the casino garage. Certainly better then the $10-30 many of the nearby hotels charge for parking, and the casino is across the street from the Hilton, connected by an overhead walkway, while the ES is about a block away, and if you don't want to walk because of bad weather, there is a shuttle bus that stops at the ES and the casino.

I just stayed here so I thought it would be good to report back since there hasn't been an update in seven years. The hotel is fine, and rooms are typical Doubletree standard. I was in a group of three which increased my room rate by C$20. They asked me at checkin if I had a car, which I didn't since I took the airport shuttle, and I wasn't charged for parking. We ate lunch in Buchanan's restaurant, which had reasonable prices and generous portions. As a Gold, I was given a voucher for two bottles of water at the grab and go restaurant in the lobby, which didn't seem to have much to offer at all. I was also upgraded to a room with a view of the US falls and given a 1 pm checkout. This property isn't mentioned at all in the breakfast benefit thread, so I'll report on that in more detail there.
