FYI, a datapoint on how HHonors hosed "lifetime" seniors some years back. But is is possible.

Any New Rumors of HH Having Lifetime Elite Status?

It is my biggest issue with HH vs. other programs.

See this thread:

If you want the "new" rumors start at the last page and then work your way forward.

Exactly with SPG starting lifetime status last year Hilton appears to be the last holdout.

250 nights for Gold and 500 for Platinum. That is very reasonable.

registering my sentiments...

I'm also in the process of switching brands. Two reasons:

1. Hilton is now disallowing award stays at properties in hosting cities over Formula 1 weekends! HHonors is a sponsor of the McLaren race team as well, which brings injury to insult.

2. Absence of a lifetime loyalty program - for reasons echoing others.

I have an award room booked for the USGP. No issue at all.

Cancelation of Hilton Honors card

I was a hilton diamond member for some 7 years...
I did not stay at a hilton for 3 years...when I returned (today) they told me my card has been cancelled due to lack of use and all the 330,000 points had gone....?
I am looking for advice what to do now ?

The rules are cristal clear. One year of inactivity will make your points gone.

If I were in your situation I would in the first instance nicely ask a supervisor at the hotline if they could make an exception and - based on your loyalty - re-instate your account and points. Any maybe also book some nights at Hilton family hotels to give them some incentives.

Follow-up to my earlier post - a few months back I received my Diamond status card in the mail, valid through March 2016. The letter from Jeffrey Diskin said it was a thank you for having had 10+ years as a Hilton Diamond.

While I appreciate the gesture, it reminds me once again that had I devoted those same 10+ years to Hyatt, Starwood, or Marriott I would already have top-tier status for life, not just until 2016.

The only reason I left Hilton after so many years was because the program lacked a lifetime benefit. Now, having reached Diamond status with Hyatt, and mid-tier status with SPG and Marriott, a lifetime status with Hilton is about the only thing that could bring me back.

If Hilton introduced lifetime status then I would have a reason to dump Hyatt, SPG, and Marriott so I could pool all my points in one hotel program. Until then, I'll be working on earning lifetime status in at least Hyatt and SPG.

Perhaps someday Hilton will realize that loyalty is a two-way street. In order to get a lifetime of loyalty from a customer you have to be willing to demonstrate the same degree of loyalty to them.
