what is the difference between 2 Doubletrees?

What is the difference between Doubletree Club and Doubletree hotel? I've only stayed in one Doubletree in my lifetime. Also while looking at the difference rooms, one doubletree listed deluxe and premiuim room the same price. What is the difference?

I have never stayed at a DT Club, but from other FT'ers have said in the past DT Clubs tend to be sub-par when compared to regular DTs.

Here is one thread I was able to find that talked about a DoubleTree Club.

At the time of its creation, the hotel featured in the "Yours Is A Very Bad Hotel" PowerPoint deck was a Doubletree Club. I'm not certain if that is indicative of all Doubletrees in general, but I have gotten a similar impression that infinityplusone has had - that is, they are of a lesser quality than the standard Doubletree.

The most significant difference I can attest to is the lack of a real restaurant at any Doubletree Club I've ever stayed in.

I agree, this is just one of the differences. From my experience, DT Club is designed for business travelers. There is usually a well equipped business center and a decent coffee shop for a "grab-and-go" breakfast. The downstairs area is set up in a "clubbish" sort of way: deep comfortable chairs, plush couches, fireplace, big screen TV.
In my home town, the Club now has new "Sweet Dreams" beds and is very popular with business travelers. One of the frequent visitors are ESPN folks when they come to town on Friday night to set up for Saturday broadcast of the local colledge football game.
The regular DoubleTree hotel is somewhat bigger and older. It hosts conventions, meetings, and typically geared towards a mix of business and leasure travelers. It has a restaurant, a decent coffee shop and a gift store. The hotel is typically full every day of the week, including weekends.
Your experience may be different but that's what I know.

The only difference I've seen in a Club hotel is the lack of a restaurant. As a gold I've had free breakfast buffet in the bar area.

Breakfast "buffet"?

My recent elite "breakfast" offer @ Doubletree Club was a voucher: one (1) food item and one (1) beverage item from the downstairs Au Bon Pain.

There wasn't even an Au Bon Pain in that hotel. So they set up a small buffet for gold and diamonds.

Doubletree is more upscale generally, and has a restaurant.

Doubletree Club seems to be ridding itself of its worst properties, since the "Yours is a Very Bad Hotel" property hs been resuscitated in another form, and my unfavorite, the Doubletree Club MIA Roach Motel, is now in dust. ^
