Quick Method of Comparing Rates Between Hotels?
On Hilton websites, is there a way to save time comparing rates between a bunch of hotels in a given area? Entering each hotel individually, re-entering all the applicable discount categories, and checking different dates at each property is very time consuming. Which is probably what the hotel companies want. Just wondering if anyone has found a way around this, short of using general travel website matrices which may not pinpoint all the discount rates.

It seems to do that (by default I think) when I select a hotel that does not have rooms available. For example, if the Metropole is sold out for the date I want, it comes back with a listing of all the other London Hiltons that are available for that date. Sure wish it was an option you could select up front...

This is my biggest pet peeve w/ the Hilton website. I emailed them about it (no response naturally, not even to say thanks for contacting us). I also tried to get FTers to start an email campaign to Hilton re: it (too lazy to search for the link), but no one seemed interested.
This is one thing I like about Marriott's site. I plug in London, comes up w/ the available hotels & a range of price for each hotel right up front, and I can narrow in. Granted, I might have to plug in certain codes to find out discount rates, but I have to do that on any hotel website. Marriott at least gives you a summary right up front (it also loads faster than Hilton - I can make a cup of tea I swear while Hilton's site is loading).

The Orbitz search feature works well for this function - I usually check there first to get a general idea of who is charging what, and then go back to the Hilton site to double-check the rates and make the booking.

Please note the third party sites (orbitz.com, travelaxe.com etc have been mentioned) do NOT always have all the rates that hilton.com displays. I often use the third party sites to narrow done a big HH listing (such as London or Los Angeles) to 2-3 hotels then go the the hilton.com site for an expanded listing. Also the 800 number telephone people often have access to more rates than the Hilton site.
