Ok to use preprinted CAT6 cert at CAT5?
Let's say a friend prints a CAT6 cert for a one-night stay which is 40k HH points (I think). I then decide to stay at a CAT5 hotel for one night instead which is only 35k HH points (I think). Can I simply show up at the CAT5 hotel and they'll accept the CAT6 cert? Thanks in advance.

Is the room booked under your friend's name?
In any event, why would you want to do this? It is easy as pie to call Hhonors, have the award invalidated and the points redeposited, and then print a new award certificate of the appropriate type.

The name on the cert and the name on the reservation are the same.

Don't want any new red tape, no new phone calls, no new printing of a
cert, coordination if the points are from someone else's account, etc.
Is it possible to simply show up at the CAT5 hotel and pay for the room with the CAT6 cert? Thanks in advance.
