Technically, it should reset January 1. Whether it shows up online tomorrow, I do not know.

The advertised day is 1 January. I did notice yesterday and today the site removed the status progress bar with the statement they are updating the meter for the upcoming year. In years past I do not recall this happening until the 1st but perhaps I just wasn't paying close enough attention?

For folks that did not retain their status for 2016. They will still have it 'till March 2017.

In the past it has taken them up to a month to update the site to show the current status for the new year.

Re-set in what way? Drop to earned status if did not maintain current status? Or when do the numbers re-set to 0 for nights, stays and points?

The numbers re-set to 0 January 1.

You will have your status for a couple more months, can't remember if end of Feb, Mar or Apr. Someone else can give that.

HHonors status runs until 31 March if you didn't re-qualify. (which reminds me to burn my HHonors points before then)

HHonors are also uniquely incapable of updating their status counter promptly on 1 January, so it will take a while before anything shows up in your HHonors account.

Thanks for the replies!

I wasn't clear. Not asking about nights, I was asking about status. I was Platinum this year, but I did not make enough stays to re-qualify for this year (unless Hilton wants to surprise me).

Thanks for the reply that I will still be Diamond until March 31st. My status still shows Diamond this morning, but as others have mentioned. the tracker bar for number of stays/nights is down.

Happy New Year everybody!

What is the Platinum status to which you refer? Is there an unpublished level here?

Ha, probably a little too much New Year's Eve cheer.

Waiving a few points?

Hi all and happy new year.

I have held Diamond for two years and was 6000 base points off Diamond for this, the third year.

Will Hilton waive the 6000 points out of goodwill?

Thanks

You have to ask them. But don't expect it.

I was like you, but I had 29 stays last year. I assumed that if they wanted the criteria for Diamond to be 29 stays they would have set it at that level. Likewise, if they wanted Diamond to be 114,000 base points they would have set it there.

Therefore I made an extra stay that I didn't need in order to retain Diamond.

On the positive side, you are Diamond for the next 3 months and will be Gold after that, if you have not re-achieved Diamond by then.

this is very generous and allows those who are late to re-achieve status and brings business to Hilton in the first quarter every year

Yes. It is certainly a Win-Win.

For the customers, it is a no-brainer. If one already re-qualified or exceed last year's status, this is already taken care of. But if one had not, the first 90 days is there to buffer the status drop as well as provide an early burst opportunity to hit Gold or even Diamond.

Properties and Hilton uses the extra time to
(1) Properly credit all (2016) qualify stays. This could take time as properties are worldwide with different types of staffing expertise / process

(2) Process the "welcome" packages and mail them out

(3) Work with partners to process complimentary status if any e.g. credit card Diamonds etc.

(4) Also have time to investigate disputes for missing stays without impacting the customer immediately.
