Double-booked - double points?

I have a non-refundable one-night stay at a Hilton Garden Inn in Dubai. For various reasons, I also have a non-refundable night booked same night at the Conrad. If I check in in person to both hotels (which would be fairly easy), am I likely to get points/nights for both?

No, you can't earn on overlapping stays.

You would probably want the credit for the Conrad stay. It should get you more points than the HGI. Do you have anyone travelling with you who might benefit from the stay/night/points? You can try transferring the reservation to that fellow traveller but name and payment of reservation has to change as well. At the very least, cancel the HGI even if it gets you nothing back except maybe avoidance of a potential headache as you try to sort things out with Hilton.

This.

A few years back, my wife and I were meeting for vacation. Had a 7-night stay in Hawaii, booked under my account. I got stranded at ORD instead of meeting my wife on the west coast and flying to OGG together. United put me up at the ORD Hilton for the night, meanwhile my wife made her way to Hawaii...

A few weeks later, I noticed that the Hawaii stay hadn't posted. Because the ORD Hilton stay posted first, and thanks to the single night overlap, I was blocked out for the entire Hawaii stay.

Needless to say, a quick phone call took care of everything...I think they even gave me the miniscule points for incidentals from the ORD Hilton. The difference was comical, like 300 points at the ORD Hilton, versus like 50,000 in Hawaii.

While I don't think of the Hilton computer system as being savvy (quite the opposite), it is quite shrewd at this particular function.
