This is a busy time of year so the pool and beach are bound to be somewhat crowded but I don't imagine it would be as busy as the Pensacola HGI. They have put some effort into beach restoration. It's still beautiful but the sea oats are just little wisps in the sand at this point. The wooden walkways you used to see everywhere will surely be rebuilt.

Enjoy the sun, the powder-white sand, and the poolside frozen drinks!
I talked to my daughter last night. They were on the 5th floor, although not waterfront - the view of the water is to the side.

The weather has been good and the beach is in good shape. The place has been noisy with families, I would have expected that. There was an arrest on their floor yesterday morning. 5 officers removed an intoxicated man in handcuffs. My daughter and her husband were warned to stand aside as the man was escorted past them. He was screaming and cursing. Quite the spectacle!

She met Nilla yesterday, and told her she was famous on the internet (in a nice way). That seemed to make her day.

Bumping this thread

I'm looking for newer reviews. Anyone been here lately? We're headed this way in Sept. and I understand there is a new Hampton Inn and Suites beachfront opening up just down the road.

Any comments on which is better? Does the HGI actually have suites to choose from?

Has anyone been to HGI Orange Beach lately? We are looking at Biloxi and Orange Beach, we have never been to either. We are going in early May, any info will help. Thanks

I am staying at this hotel late summer and reviewed Tripadvisor to help with my decision. If you are going for the beach, I personally would not consider Biloxi. Orange Beach itself has beautiful beaches!

I have stayed at the Pensacola Beach Hilton and really enjoyed my stay. We were upgraded to a suite with bunk beds. Breakfast for HHDiamonds good. Wish this is where I could stay but have family in Orange Beach we are visiting.

I booked a room at this hotel, the room detail listed a balcony, but not a view of the pool or Beachfront. Anyone know what the view might be? Parking lot? We are Diamond, has anyone been upgraded? Thanks

Stayed at this property last month. As a diamond was upgraded to a suite w/ 2 full baths and a sitting area (much appreciated). The suite had 2 balconies with a decent ocean view. It was decorated in the typical HGI motif, but the furniture/carpet was starting to show some wear.

The lobby and restaurant were being renovated while I was there, this should be complete by now. Hopefully the renovation includes some training for the cooks, because the breakfast was the worst I've had at a HGI (I normally find it quite good). The restaurant was serving breakfast only (no evening service or room service) but I was told this would return when renovations were complete. Not much of a sacrifice in Orange Beach with so many good seafood restaurants nearby.

The hotel sits on a splendid beach which as of March '13 had tons of white sand. There is a bar available by the pool.

Note-there is a Hampton about a mile east of this hotel. It is much newer than this HGI and while I did not see a room, the lobby and pool areas are very nice. It also sits on an excellent stretch of beach & is worth consideration.

HGI or Hampton at Orange Beach

Are the beaches pretty similar for the two Orange Beach properties? Do either of the hotels stand in terms of beach front view/rooms (for a Diamond) or other amenities?

HGI or Hampton, <Bump>

Good Day All,
Its been 10+ years since I have stayed at the HGI in Orange Beach. Can someone provide updates on this HGI or the Doubletree/Hampton Inn? I currently have/continue to look for a stay on points for Aug 14-17. I am showing that can get gulf front with 2 queens deluxe at the Doubletree or 2 queens beachfront at the Hampton for 70k per night, otherwise the HGI has pool view for 60k per night.

Thanks,
Jwhuffman

Avoid the HGI.

The Lodge is the best Hilton property in the area. Second place is the DT. The Hampton is a close 3rd.

I did look at The Lodge, but the gulf front room was 130,000 points as opposed to the DT and Hampton was 70k for ocean front. HGI was 60k for pool/partial view.

130k at the Lodge is laughable. It’s very nice, but it’s not worth that.

DT is your best bet.

Enjoy the area! We were at Orange Beach today and it was beautiful.
