Hampton/Doubletree Pricing

A new Hampton Inn is opening at Bradley Airport (BDL)this weekend. When I attempted to book a room on the net I couldn't and was told that Internet booking won't start until Oct. 1. The price listed on the net was $89, When I called the hotel I was told their price for this Sunday night is $129, This is the same price that the Doubletree across from the Hampton Inn is charging for the same night.

I thought Doubletree was supposed to be one step up in quality from Hampton Inn. Does anyone know if Hampton and Doubletree ever collaborate around pricing in specific markets.

I stayed at the BDL Doubletree this past Saturday night for $89. Average for a Doubletree but had a very nice bar where I had an interesting conversation with an air marshall.
I have found Hampton Inn's to be less as it is considered to be a step down. Also stayed at the White River Junction Hampton Inn last week and paid $107 b/c of the foliage season. Hell the leaves had barely begun to change and I didn't even get the Hampton Touch when I got to my room.

I've been to many places where the Doubletree has been cheaper than the Hampton. In Boston, I can often get the Doubletree Suites for under $120 if I book far enough in advance. The Hampton Cambridge, meanwhile, is often $129+.

In general, the rack rate for the Doubletree is higher, but they discount more aggressively during the week. Hampton sets its price, discounts it 10% for some groups, and that's about it.

Generally the Hampton is much more affordable than the Doubletree. However, you should always do your research because you never know what you'll find.

For instance I'm in Houston tomorrow night for $98 at the Doubletree Guest Suites. This is a great property that I would consider to be just about 4 stars. Right next to the Galleria in the nicest part of town.

The Embassy Suites was $125 and the Hampton was was almost that much.

It's great to get that cheap rate with a guaranteed suite, full breakfast, room service, etc. at a full service hotel.

I currently have a DT reservation for less than a HI reservation for next month in FLA.

Try the HGI/Windsor for $89 per night this weekend. Just down the road from the HI and DT.

What's HGI? Is that rate for Sunday? It seems like all the hotels in that strip have a the same $89 rate for Saturday and then they all go up to $129 for Sunday. I'm booked at the Days Inn ($59).

The HGI is just a few miles south at exit 38. The $89 rate was for Fri/Sat. Sun is $109. Guess that's when all the business travelers come in.
