Calculating Base Points

Hello all,

What is the actual method of calculating base points? Does it include room service, data ports, and/or other paid services outside of room charge?

I've been only getting room charge X10 for my base points. It was under my impression that I should be getting the entire bill X10.

Total folio amount which includes ANY charges less tax.

Hampton Inns is the exception. You only get credit for nightly rate there less tax.

"Less Tax". That explains it.

Thanks.

In reviewing several recet Hilton stays, my "net folio $" does not equal the amount of the nightly room rate less tax. Is there another definition/calculation that I am missing?

It really isn't that big of a deal, I was just trying to verify some points/bonuses/etc. For instance, one stay was at a Garden Inn for a room rate of $69.00, with $7.72 in taxes for a total charge of $76.72. No other charges to the room. The net folio amount on my Hhonors account was $70.26 (which is the amount that my base points and gold bonus are based upon). More curiosity than anything else - - would help to know the rules when trying to reconcile one's account.

cactuspete -- FWIW, here's possible explanation (similar minor dicrepancies occured in my account as well). It looks like sometimes the only information submitted by a hotel computer to the HHonors computer is the total room charge, including tax. Then HHonors computer recalculates the total taking out the taxes. I guess the information on the amount of taxes each particular property charges is not always up-to-date in the HHonors system, thus resulting in minor discrepancies, not unlike the one you see.

In a very similar fashion, when my stays were non-taxable (certain state institutions are exempt from taxes on lodging within their own state), the HHonors computer tries to deduct the amount of taxes from eligible charges even when that amount does not include any taxes in the first place.

Hope I did not confuse you even more!
