General Comments
There's not a better hotel program in the world. I've never had a problem earning points, except for an occasional argument over a leisure rate that doesn't qualify for the double dip) and never a problem using them. This program is so much stronger now that Hilton International is on board. Just one comment, when will they learn to let members earn points for every dollar they spend at Resorts. Seems cheating to me.

The best benefit that I have found is their RewardPlanner which plans all your award redemption whether it's your Hilton rewards or your American award. I like the idea that i don't have to make dozens of calls trying to redeem my points from a credit card program to make into miles and then try and redeem into an award along with trying to match up my hotel nights if possible and then any other reservations that i might have to purchase. This has always been complicated but these guys seem to make this pretty easy. I think you can sign up with their service center, I got something in the mail.

RewardPlanner may be nice but it does come at a cost. I believe it takes about 30,000 points per year (or 20,000 if you're a VIP) to join. I think they also have an option to pay cash to "buy into" the program.
