I spent about 10 minutes searching through old threads for the answer to this but gave up and decided to start a new thread. Mods may merge if appropriate.

I know VIP bonuses are given for incidentals charged on a reward stay. But if I've selected bonus points as my My Way benefit will I earn points on a reward stay?

On the one hand, it seems like My Way points on an award stay would amount to a reduction is overall point price of a reward stay (35000 points up front with 1000 points given back after stay) which seems not in the spirit of the "law." OTOH, some people claim to have been upgraded on award stays which means their My Way upgrade benefit is honored so points should as well.

So what gives, FT? Will I get points or should I change my benefit to upgrade? If it makes a difference I never charge incidentals and likely won't on my upcoming reward stay. Thanks.

I just checked my hhonors account and on my last category 5 award earlier in the year, I can confirm the myway preference bonus option for 1000 points was credited to my account.

short answer is 'yes'....you will get the points....doesn't matter if its a paid or reward stay....
