Yikes! A snake in the bathroom...

Did anyone else see this article in USA Today about the Hampton Inn in La Vista, Nebraska? I know I have seen a thread of yucky hotel room finds, but this is pretty bad.

Ah, well a meter long python is NOT a problem.

OTOH, I knew of a woman researcher at the Serengeti Research Institute who heard the toilet lid banging several nights; they found a six foot Egyptian cobra was attempting to emerge from the toiled (from its home in the septic field). That could be a nasty wakeup for anyone using the loo in the night.

The tick in the bed wouldn't have fazed me in the least but a snake in the toilet would freak me out. They'd hear me in the next town.

Update: Snake's Hotel Stay Was Over A Month
Investigators with the Nebraska Humane Society have located the owner of a python found on a La Vista hotel toilet lid yesterday.
Reporter: LeAnne Morman

Investigators with the Nebraska Humane Society have located the owner of a python found on a La Vista hotel toilet lid yesterday.

It appears, according to the owner that the python has been in the Hampton Inn since last month.

The owner was a guest at the hotel and brought the snake with him.

When it got lost in the room, the guest left without telling management.

The snake was found yesterday in the room on the toilet lid, quite unexpectedly by a guest staying in the room.

The owner of the python now lives in California and the snake has been turned over to a friend.

Wow. I'm surprised the snake wasn't spotted sooner by other guests or the cleaning staff.
