A New Record!
I rented today from Hertz and received a car with over 31,000 miles! That is a new high! Funny thing is the car is in really good shape and surprisingly doesn't smell. Amazing....
I asked the guy at the gate as I was leaving about when they normally take them out of service. He replied typically at 20k or so, but they recently brought back several hundred cars they couldn't sell. He offered to exchange it for me but like I mentioned the car is in really good shape, so I kept it. Just thought it was interesting as I don't ever recall renting a car with such high miles.

For you, maybe. I am fairly certain I have had rentals in the 30s that were > 31k. But then, in all fairness, I have also had several cars where I was the first driver. All that in maybe 20 rentals over the last two years.

I posted a thread in this forum a while back asking about something written on my contract and mentioned my rental mileage since this writing began to occur. I was told it meant "High Sales", but my last 5 rentals from Austin have been:
26,500
41,000
48,900
and last night, 47,650
One of the cars was marked "bad tire" but they refused to exchange since they were out of cars for the day. That same car was undriveable over 50 mph due to a severe shudder. The 48,900 car wouldn't idle and, again, magically they were sold out so I had the option of (1) putting my car in neutral at lights or (2) taking a tow and finding my own transportation to the airport to rent from another company.
All this for a PC Member.
