Question About Points + Free Tank Of Gas Promo
Hey there.
I booked a car at SFO for 4 days with the Free Tank of Gas Promo. This was my bill:
RENTAL CHARGES
DAYS 3 @ 34.99 104.97
EXTRA DAYS 1 @ 97.99 97.99
ADJUSTMENT -97.88
SUBTOTAL 105.08
DISCOUNT 20.00% -21.02
SUBTOTAL 84.06
FUEL & SERVICE 97.88
CONCESSION FEE RECOVERY 9.33
CA TOURISM FEE 2.10
CUSTOMER FACILITY CHARGE 15.00
TAX 8.25% 15.78
AMOUNT DUE 224.15 USD
I'm guessing the +97.88 and the -97.88 were the gas promo but why am I being penlized in points (i only received 84) and discount (discount was only applied on 105.08 v. 202.96 for the actual rental) for it?
I don't understand why my adjustment comes before my discount and points??

Free gas is a pass-through expense therefore Hertz does not discount or offer points on that. While you spent $202, Hertz' service revenue from your rental is lower due to the cost of refilling (whether they actually pay $97 for gas is a different story)

i had similar problem ( with discount - not involving points) with free gas rental at MDW.
I e-mailed Hertz and they fixed so that discount was taken on larger number BEFORE gas credit but AFTER gas charge( effectively adding $9x.xx in your case).
