Making two reservations for same time and pickup location

OK - I'm sure that I would be violating lots of T&C's by doing this, but has anyone ever booked two reservations for the same time, decided which car they liked better, and then called to cancel the other reservation?

I did on accident. I had booked a Q7 and a Escalade in ORD for the same time. Plans changed, and I had to move up the Q7 res about an hour and decided I didn't want the 'Lade. Did that on hertz.com, everything is cool.

Get down to ORD and found out they had THREE res for the same time under my name! Apparently, the change didn't occur and the 'Lade res didn't cancel, so there were 3 res for me all at the same time. She even showed me the screen.

No biggie, she canceled the other two with no prob, and the Q7 ended up being a blast, and $350 cheaper.

You probably could just get the one you want and let the other cancel out, or just let them know you have two and they'll cancel the other.
