Carfirmation informed me that I had been assigned an F Chevrolet Malibu. Carfirmation allowed me to upgrade to a Ford Taurus for only $20/day.

I am just lucky in that (and contrary to the thread on the topic, Hertz auditors agree with what I'm about to say) SLC is one of the best locations in the country. The staff is outrageously friendly and willing to help (well, except a few of them...). Paying for an upgrade once in a while helps, so does bringing them snacks! But really, I don't think anyone else gets upgrades like this on a regular basis

SLC (walk-up reservation)
ECAR? (whatever was cheapest)
No options, 5*
Yes (counter): C - a "nice" Toyota Corolla (walked away)
Yes (Gold Booth): Q4 - Subaru Outback w/ 7700 miles

Not to mention the folks at the Gold Booth gave me a better rate. This was for a coworker of mine who had an emergency come up. Moral of the story: best to deal with those who know you ^

Well equipped like that, that's a very nice rental!! Still a bit small for FCAR imho but if you don't need the space, it's something worth seeking out.

YF lol; YC maybe? I would not even give it F let alone a specialty F?

The space of the car classifies it as an F; at least that's the story Hertz is sticking with. But if, for instance, you're traveling by yourself and are presented with a Camry, a base-model Fusion, and one of these... I'd take the 200.

Reserved: PCAR
Offered: Buick Regal (FCAR) w/ 52k
Requested: 2014 S60 on the lot with 300 miles - Denied
Requested: Literally any non-GM PCAR
Offered: 2012 Altima w/ 59k miles
Drove off with: The Buick Regal with 52k.. Had broken fuel gauge (got charged at $9.89/gallon when swapping at BWI), cracked rear bumper, lots of black scratches on roof, and sizable dent on passenger door

At BWI:
Offered: 2013 Hyundai Genesis w/ 42k miles - Surprisingly excellent condition and drove wonderfully

Hertz on Twitter addressed my complaint and made things right within 2 hours (during business hours) with the first rental

Booked B - Corsa or similar
Received B - Ford Fiesta

Nice car, dreadful engine and stereo. The exact opposite of the Clio I had a little while back.

As ever, no acknowledgement of status, car was miles away and no upgrade - and when I returned it, they couldn't book the car in meaning I had to go back a day later to close the reservation off as I had no paperwork and customer services on the phone saw the reservation as open.

Hertz Gold
Booked: Full Size
Received: Dodge Avenger with 29k miles.

One of the worst rentals I've had. The Gold Choice area was completely empty. Nothing to swap for while ALL other spots were full and the return area was quite full too. Was with a co-worker and it was about 9 pm so didn't fuss about a change. But god is this car awful!!!
