ID issue

I just got a ticket and am scheduled to rent from Hertz (for the first time) this coming week. The officer took my license until my court date. I am able to go get a State ID card verifying who I am, but I wont have my license back - just my ticket. Is there ANY way Hertz will still let me rent? If anyone has ANY advice on this, I would sincerely appreciate it.

Thank you.

must have been Some Fancy ticket you got......

If your a Gold Member or Higher, you wont need your license, althought he gate security guard will most likely want ID.

I have found that a passport or any other GOVT issued id will work.

Have fun in court

I have a duplicate Drivers license because of this issue, you should have told the pig that you left your license at home. I know, hind sight is 20/20 but the state ID along with your license on file should suffice.

Can't you get a duplicate driver's license?

Or, is that not permittable in your circumstances?

I suspect that if you're not an established Hertz Gold member, you might have issues picking up the vehicle.

My only experience with this was when I moved from Virginia to New York, and my license was in limbo. They took my VA licenses, and gave me some paper. I was able to rent at Hertz with the paper chit.

On the other hand, I have ALWAYS been asked for ID and have ALWAYS given my license. Out of curiosity, I will offer my passport the next few times and see how many times I am asked for a drivers license, and report back.

It sounds rather serious infraction if they took your license away. What state and circumstances? Wouldn't this leave you open to a ticket for not having your license?
