Truck or Pickup Rentals at Hertz?

I'm curious... When renting online, I sometimes see Ford Rangers and Ford F-150s in the list of available car types. However, whenever I've asked for "quote it" on either type, either the type isn't available for the location I've chosen, or a cryptic "you need a special corporate code" error appears.

Has anyone ever rented either type of vehicle from Hertz?

I have seen a single Ranger in a Hertz lot at DFW, so it appears they do exist...

Be careful when renting pickup trucks, as most credit cards' rental collision insurance does not cover them. So if you want full coverage for damage, you'll have to purchase the CDW from Hertz if it's not provided by your company.

The same goes for those Ford Explorer sport-tracs(4 door with a little pick-up area in back) ...or so says my insurance agent.

Towing small U-haul trailer (8ft)

I also wonder why anyone would get a truck if your not allowed to pull any sort of trailer.

Perhaps try Budget - I think their local editions are geared more towards this purpose than Hertz's are. My favorite Hertz LE has only standard cars and the occasional minivan. My local Budget always seems to have a few trucks and bigger vans sitting around.

I've rented a full-size pickup with towing equipment from Budget in the past. I took care of insurance by buying a specific 1-week policy upgrade from my own insurance company.
