Using A Corporate Rate Code - Consequences?

All:

When traveling on business I've been using an IBM CDP
for rentals from Hertz as offers rates that are half the
price of non-IBM rates. I'm an independent contractor
so I have no "global" corporate rate under which my rentals
can fall and my clients tend to be on the cheap side. So,
I use the IBM code and have never had a problem.

But.....what would happen if my Hertz rental was damaged
or stolen? Would my Citicard insurance and/or personal
auto insurance step in as there is no IBM "scheme"
providing coverage? Or would the auto/credit card guys
run a mile as I was being a naughty boy and using the IBM
code? And what would Hertz do/not do?

Any counsel out there?

Cheers,
Smethwickman

Your Citicard and/or personal insurance will step up to the plate.

I'm an independent contractor myself, and all of my clients let me use their rate if it's cheaper than what I get through my corp rate.

In the meantime, why not sign yourself up for the Small Business Assistance Program by Hertz? http://bapmember.hertz.com

The more you rent under your own corporate number, the more points you get, the more coupons you get for free rentals worldwide with virtually no restrictions.
