Fleet @ LAX

G'Day all

Im over in LA around late sept and have booked a
Lincoln LS for two weeks.
Can anyone tell me if it will be a V8?
Reason being fuel is so cheap in the USA and I am after the most powerful car I can get my hands on!
Is it a nice motor?

Would otherwise choose the XJ8 but it has mileage limits.

Cheers

I've always gotten the V8 LS's at LAX.

Of course, if you really want a powerful car, don't rent from Hertz -- Look at Bevery Hills Rent-a-car which rents under the Budget banner. They rent everything from MB SL500's to Ferrari's.

The LS has a standard V8 - so you don't need to worry its the only way it comes!

I would do the Volvo S80 over the LS, you can rent both with unlimited milage... It does not have a V8, but it is turbo charged and it does move quickly.... Hertz at LAX also has the "special convertable" AKA Ford Thunderbird - the "perfect" car for LA....

Yeah, but the T-Bird has a 200 mile per day limit. (Or at least that's the deal I received for this weekend.)

FWIW

The Volvo S-80s I get at SEA are not the T5 Turbo models, but come with the standard 2.9 liter V6. At 190hp, they are surprisingly peppy, but not in the same league as the 252hp Lincoln LS.

While the LS does come in a V6 option, I have only seen V8s at Hertz.

Also in the LS' favor are a six-disc CD changer (Volvo is single-disc), plus heated and cooled seats. Let me tell ya, those cool seats are nice for warm climates. The Volvo has heated seats.

I do fit in the Volvo a little better, but for the same price, the LS is the better value.

I stand corrected - I thought this car was only available in a V8....

Don't forget the Jaguar S-Type which has the 4.2L V-8 putting out 300 ponies. I was afraid that Ford would ruin Jaguar once they got a hold of them, but I do like this car. Excellent pick-up even at highway speeds.
