I booked a P4(I think) medium elite sedan at PHL, and parked in my spot was a 2023 Volvo XC60 with 445 miles on it. Very nice car. Did see one other in the sea of teslas and Tahoe/suburbans. Pleasantly surprised for $45/day. Booked the same class for this Wednesday at CLT and I’m hoping for another XC60.

Anecdotal from a few rentals at DFW and DEN lately... looks like Hertz is refreshing the T6 fleet with Suburban Premier trim and getting rid of the Z71 trims that were very common the past year. Nice upgrade, as the Premier trim all have ventilated seats. 😁

I wonder if the decision on this was due to the Z71 trim being hot on the stolen market. My colleague rented a Suburban Z71 last week and got an AirTag notification on his phone a couple hours after he left DFW. He searched all over the SUV and couldn't find the tag. Brought it back to DFW to swap it out and the manager told him this has been happening lately with the Z71 trims... they're AirTagged and then end up stolen. Who knows.

Saw the "Standard SUV AWD (L2) Ford Edge or similar" car class/description show up as an option recently for the first time (to me, at least). Details include "Automatic AWD Transmission". Anyone with experience with this? Does this mean Hertz is now confirming that they'll have an AWD available for me? They haven't previously been willing to do that in my experience. Thanks.

Yes, I had a very well equipped Volvo XC60 B5 white interior in September 2023 for a T4/RFAR category rental

And I received a 2023 XC90, well equipped, at a Manhattan location last week. Definitely Volvos in fleet.

What category was the XC90?

I think P6 should be higher than T6 since it's in Prestige Class. That's definitely a downgrade.

This Genesis G70 I they have in Category I looks really nice. Do you know what build-year they might have at LAX?

My local airport Hertz location has a Porsche Macan available for rent? I am going to book one but was wondering if anyone had any experience renting one from Hertz and what trim level and options could I expect? Thanks!

Have not seen one in ages, but all the ones that were seen in the past were barebone base model 2.0T that doesn’t have sunroof

That's disappointing. Thanks for the response!

If you want to see what options some of the vehicles have, you can check Hertz Auto Sales. It will give a decent representation of the current fleet they are selling off. You may have to know what you are looking for. The four Macans currently for sale all have a 4 cyl engine and have no extra badging. I would assume base models.

I can't seem to edit the Wiki, but rented a Mercedes EQB classified as a "C3" below a Polestar 2 at FLL.

Before Covid19, 4WD could specifically be booked (Ford Explorer, Nissan Pathfinder etc..) But this option has been removed. Thanks

FWIW, whenever I've rented T/FFAR at LAX (or PHX too), it's been 4WD. Tahoe, Yukon, Yukon and Wagoneer. All high-spec. Maybe just luck, as I'm pretty sure there's a mix of 2WD and 4WD. There's usually a few to choose from. I do the same as you, 21 to 22 day rentals. Even for the same purpose, train watching! But I go the Seligman Subdivision. They may even reserve the better ones for the longer-term rentals assuming drivers are going to be more adventurous, but I have no real evidence, just my experience. They even put the Wagoneer in a special spot for me. I'm a Gold Plus member, maybe that makes a difference... dunno.
