Anyone recently rent a Hertz standard size SUV at Denver airport? What vehicle did you get? Thanks!

Just back from a skiing trip through Denver, I was given a Nissan Rogue.

ehchan Mar 28, 2017 10:21 pm

Booked Mercedes C300 or similar (P4) for Denver today, was assigned a GLA250 (yuck!). I was able to trade out for a 2017 Audi A4, which is P4 as well. No nav, but the Audi is CarPlay compatible, so that's good enough for me.

I have just booked a L (SFAR) car in Denver International Airport. The category is described as "Toyota 4Runner or similar".
Among all the cars listed in the L category in this post, which one is more likely to be available in Denver?

Actually, I would be interested in a high clearance car and a Toyota 4Runner is much higher than a Hyundai Santa Fe, for instance.

Thanks for any advice or feedback.

The sample car they quote is not necessarily the one that that you are most likely to get. On recent evidence, I would say that you are relatively unlikely at present to get a 4Runner.

Most prevalent L on fleet is the Santa Fe Sport. There are more Hyundai and Nissan on fleet than anything else at present. There are some Kia Sorento V6 models and a few new Ford Edges, a small number of Jeep Grand Cherokees (there were a lot of Jeeps a year ago, but these some to have diminished).

ok thanks for the information.

I might change my mind and rent either a full size SUV (much more expensive though) or a standard pick-up. Both categories should ensure a high-clearance car. This does not seem to be the case with the standard SUV category (L) and the Hyundai Sante Fe.

Seriously? How much did they want for it? Or was it just parked there temporarily?

I've thought the same thing when I've seen non-luxury vehicles parked in the Upgrade area. Keep in mind that PC, 5*, and Gold members are all eligible to use the upgrade area ($35 more a day, or $25 more a day for Plat and PC). So a Gold member could make a C reservation but want an SUV. If there isn't one in the Gold area to choose from, they could get it for $35 more a day from the upgrade area, which could be cheaper than booking an SUV outright.

Neither vehicle had a hang tag, but both were definately parked in the upgrade section. There was also a Cayanne and C63 on the sidewalk near the rental counter that didn't have tags either.

The Rogue was really the only SUV out there, but I was surprised that better versions of it were available for no fee.

Huh, I guess that makes sense, but it does seem like a raw deal to upgrade to a pretty basic crossover for the same price as a prestigious brand car.

DEN - PC

Picked up a car last week in DEN from the PC UC area - they were mainly Full sizes with a few SUV's in the lot. Picked up a Santa Fe. Too bad no Infiniti cars available in this area, saw 3-4 of the Q50's in the upgrade selections.

On a side note - the Santa Fe had a mileage of > 20000 miles on it and sadly saw (after leaving the lot) lots of stains on the upholstery of the seats. I sadly did not like the ride at all as the pick up of the vehicle was surprisingly bad - car felt too heavy for the engine.

Cheers!

President's Circle DEN

https://cimg3.ibsrv.net/gimg/www.fly...57ff98dd86.jpg
Arrived in DEN around 7:30pm Monday (after Thanksgiving) and there were tons of cars to choose from, including the usual full-size sedans, but also SUV's (Explorers, Tahoes) and luxury (Cadillac XTS, Infiniti QX60, QX70). I took the QX70 and when I exited the lot, the agent thanked me for being President's Circle and handed me a small box. Inside was a portable battery charger with a Hertz logo. 2200maH, not a bad gift.

What car to expect at Hertz Denver Airport DEN?

We’re placing a reservation with Hertz for January 2018. I was hoping to book a QX80 or a Suburban since there’s 7 of us, however it’s showing not available. Instead, we’re having to go with the Elite Crossover option from their site (Group Z4 / RGDR). According to their site, it’s a 7 passenger vehicle, and it would be an Infiniti QX60 from their Prestige Collection. However, my experience in the past at other airports, is that it’s one thing what they write and another thing what they really have. Does anybody know what kind of vehicle to expect for an Elite Crossover at DEN?
I was really hoping for a QX80 or a Suburban, but they don’t show those available.
Also, does anybody know if when we get there at DEN and they do happen to have a QX80 or Suburban, if that Group/Category we’re renting from would allow us to select one of those vehicles at no extra cost or are we talking a big upgrade fee?
Thanks!

Can anyone comment on which pickups (S, SCAR) are most likely to be at DEN currently?

aves17 Jul 19, 2018 5:18 pm

Anyone able to comment on what they usually get when renting a Rover Discovery/Infiniti QX60 (Z4, RGDR) at DEN? Would love to try out the Discovery, but not sure if it's worth rolling the dice on or not.

Help with Rental Selection at DEN

We're traveling to Denver in October and I need some guidance on which class to rent. We will be traveling with a baby and a toddler so car seats are definitely involved. I'd love to do a Q4 because it's cheaper, but I would only want this class if I knew for sure I could get a Subaru Outback. Does anyone have any insight on our chances of getting an Outback at DEN? Otherwise, we're looking at a 7 passenger SUV or a minivan. I already have reservations for both of those but would much prefer an Outback.

Not impossible, but quite unlikely to get an Outback. Most likely vehicle is a Nissan Rogue in that category, or a Jeep Compass.

UAPremExecflyer Aug 2, 2018 11:39 am

You're far from guaranteed an Outback ... there are other vehicles in the Q4 category ... and it just depends on the day what vehicles are available and who is there before you and what vehicles they take ...
Basically your question is unanswerable.
https://www.flyertalk.com/forum/hert...ct-thread.html

cestmoi123 Aug 2, 2018 11:59 am

You could just make two reservations, one for a Q4 and one for a minivan/7 seat SUV. Then, see what they assign you on arrival, and if there's no Outback available, just use the other reservation.

queenlizzle Aug 2, 2018 2:09 pm

Thanks - I didn't even know that was an option. I assumed I would have to cancel one of the reservations before that time. Thanks for the excellent tip!

If you book it under your own profile, then they have your cc and they will charge you no show or whatever fee. If you book as guest and claim the points/ miles later, without giving them your cc info, then you might be able to do two booking. I dont' know if their system can link the guest bookings back to you though.... Just my thought.

Unless it's explicitly disclosed upfront, Hertz doesn't charge no show fees.

Any recent observations of Ultimate Choice here? I’ve got a reservation for the morning of 9/2 (Sunday during Labor Day weekend, unfortunately - I’m just hoping there’ll be something left).

Was just there last week. UC was pretty picked over. Impalas, midsize SVUs, mini vans, etc. Nothing special.

Spotted a Tahoe but someone already claimed it and was getting in when I walked up. Grabbed a Traverse. Fairly loaded and active sat radio no complaints.

Thanks for that... turns out our train was delayed overnight, so we aren’t there yet, but I do have a weird update - I got 2 Hertz “Carfirmations”. One had a specific vehicle and stall (a Jeep Cherokee on a C reservation), and the other said proceed to the Gold lot to choose. So I guess we’ll see.

I took a glance at UC when I got there (just Gold since that’s all I qualify for), and it was mostly Sentras with a Malibu or Impala (only saw part of it) and a Jeep, either a new Compass or Cherokee. So, I just decided to take the Cherokee that was reserved for me. It’s a Limited 4x4, so not bad. I’m still not sure why I got a reserved stall on a C booking though - maybe because it’s one way (i.e., they gave me a car that location wanted to get rid of)?

DeepUnderground Sep 2, 2018 10:19 pm

In July had booked a V8 challenger and they didn't have one, tried to give me a Mercedes SUV instead, but didn't want it (they seemed shocked), and then somehow found what I had booked...

FlyingJayhawk12 Sep 8, 2018 9:10 pm

President’s Circle at DEN has been extremely disappointing every time I’ve been through there in the past six months. Half-empty rows of base Altimas, Malibus, and Impalas. The lone Maxima I found in PC last time in Denver had a torn up headliner and broken sunroof, the Subaru Legacy I got in had a dead battery, and the sole Infiniti in the section was locked and marked “lost key”.

Certainly not my idea of the “Ultimate Choice”, especially after completing 75+ rentals at airports all over the US.

yuzheny Sep 16, 2018 7:57 pm

Around 2 AM Sept 10th, the PC lot has two Chrysler 300 and maybe three or five of Malibus. Also one Dodge Charger and one or two Maxima. Can't recall the SUVs but I ended up getting a Buick Envision, which was nice.

Interestingly the Infiniti Q50 is in the Premium Upgrade zone.

ChevyCruze Oct 25, 2018 2:01 pm

Rental Date: Monday, 10/22/18 around 2pm

I drove away with a 2019 Ram 1500 crew cab with only 3 miles on the odometer!

Gold Section = a lot of minivans, a few Chevy Cruze and maybe two other Dodge Ram pickups. Mediocre at best. Did see several Tahoe/Yukons in PC.

dennisliu19 Nov 16, 2018 1:17 pm

In hertz current description, it says a RAM1500 can seat 6 people. Is that even possible?

Just curious, if I have 6 people and clearly it does not fit in the truck. Could I argue for a change for Suburban or Yukon?

They do seat 6 people, I had rented ram1500/Silverado/F150 in the class and they all seat 6 with bench seat in both front and back. It is very tight though.

Hertz Denver

Has anyone rented a Range Rover Sport from the Denver location? If so, how new is the car and what trim?

Thanks in advance

It's likely to be the HSE trim ... standard in the DREAM collection

This is pretty normal as ski season winds down and you have less people needing all of the ski equipment and luggage space.
