Good CDP codes

I am trying to line up a rental in LAS for June over a weekend and keep getting a $35+/day rate on a full size. This is with AAA. Anyway, I was looking for help on doing better and wandered over to the Avis board and saw this thread:

http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/Forum77/HTML/000061.html

...bunch of people posting Avis' AWD numbers. What about starting something like this for Hertz....without people abusing corp. deals and the like.

Use Avis. I haven't seen a Hertz rate beat Avis for about two years.

I agree with QL about AVIS especially in LAS. They have excellent service if you are preferred. I'll share my list although it's shorter than the one I have for AVIS.
---------------------------------------------

000252 AAA Texas
PC# 160926-$5 off/weekend day up to $20-- Class C,D,F2 day min exp 06/30/02
PC# 160904-$10 off weekly-- Class C,D,F5 day min, exp 06/30/02

336436 Costco

205521 Entertainment Book

154080 Marriott

269339 NWA

1244828 Smarter Living
PC# 913603 15% off and free upgrade

217692 American Airlines

PC #s COMBINABLE WITH OTHER RATES
PC# 928281 $20 off (class B,C,D) or
PC# 928292 $25 off (class F,G,I,L,R,U) exp 04/30/02

---------------------------------------------
Try combining PC# 160926 with your AAA CDP code or the one listed above for an extra $5 if you still wish to use Hertz in LAS.

I have tried everything and nothing seems to be able to beat the AAA rates! Every other CDP I enter is 5% on weekend rates and AAA gives the big 10%. Thankfully Hertz lowered rates the weekend I will be there so with the extra $20 off I have a full size Thu PM-Sun PM in June for <$90 incl all taxes. Now I will cross my fingers for a Volvo S80 when I get there! That is what I really like about Hertz...the chances of getting those prestige cars!

I just called Hertz's Gold hotline (800-775-3180) and asked them what promotions they had that would waive the $50 annual fee and a friendly gentleman offered me a choice of cdp codes to choose from.
I chose the LH CDP for my application (25321), but they pretty much had most major carriers and hotel groups in their files.

For Hertz rentals in Europe, unlike Avis, 'national' CDP #'s often work best:

Switzerland:
- 756756: Swiss railways
- 755555: Swiss(air)

France:
- 963123: Air France F+ bleu

Netherlands:
- 801290: KLM SW

Those CDP's are not the top tier ones which sometimes yield a free upgrade; credentials are therefore not checked, in my experience so far.

I get the best discount by using Alaska's (MVP?) discount - usually 25%. Its always better than AAA or Costco.

A friend tells me (since I'm not this old - close but not quite) that AARP offers exceptional discounts on Hertz.

Hertz PC code in conjunction with AAA #928222 will give you a free tank of gas. Here in Vegas that is worth about $30 if you get any upgraded car or SUV.
