Help please! How does the program work?

I went to the Hertz site, but relly found it very uninformative. I rent cars a lot, and would like to get something out of it. I am looking for benefits such as upgrades, free rentals, FF points etc. Does Hertz offer any of these things with their program? And on the site I only see mention of regular and Gold membership, where people here are talking about other levels. Can someone please give me the run down, or a good link!!

Thanks!

There are 2 programmes. Hertz #1 and #1 Gold. In the US ( and possibly Canada I expect ) there is a $50 for #1 Gold, elsewhere it is free to join.

I don't know anything about the former scheme since it isnt marketed here in the Uk.

With the Gold scheme there are 3 tiers, regular, 5 star and Presidents Circle.

With all gold memberships you should, theoretically, have a nice easy pick up of ya car, just show a driving licence and go. If you make 10 rentals in a year, then you will get upgraded to 5* membership. This will give you a 1 class upgrade if available when you pick the car up. Complete the requisite number for Presidents Circle ( varies , 40 in US, 30 in Europe and Australia for example ) and you will get upgraded to this level. This gives a guaranteed 1 class upgrade at time of booking plus guaranteed car availability ( Groups a-d ) even if a location is sold out.

You can get FF miles with certain airlines just by giving your FF number at time of booking regardless of membership og #1 Gold.

Hope this helps

There is also the invitation only Platinum level, which usually includes upgrades and also Hertz meeting you at the terminal with your car and dropping you off at the terminal when you return. This is by invitation only and cannot be earned.

Indeed there is. It seemed superfluous to mention . It has a "best car on lot" policy as far as upgrades go and having the car outside and ready for you to go at the location.
