Request a Mazda?
Hi,
I've recently started traveling a lot (every other week) to Philadelphia, and am renting each time from Hertz. While I normally get the usual Ford car, on one trip I received a Mazda Protege (they were out of C class, and so gave me a YB? class car). It was great.
So, is there a way to always request a Mazda car? The YB class seems to be something available at the counter, but not in the reservation system.
Any help would be appreciated! Also, any advice for a fairly new frequent business traveler would be great...

I have been getting non-standard cars with Hertz all the time recently. Expecting to get the Taur. wind up gettting S70, V70, TownCar, CrownVic, Explorer, Expedition...still waiting for the Excursion - PHL I have usually gotten the Crown Vic though.

IMHO PHL has crummy cars, crummy roads and a crummy airport. As for reserving a particular car model, it aint easy anywhere, as Hertz has few special non-Ford cars in stock. The best luck I have ever had with "special requests" at Hertz was to call the nice Seattle airport Marriott Hertz guy direct a day or 2 in advance and ask for a personal request. He in turn insures that car is brought over from the SEA airport pool. My favorite car and my nice request was always for a Toyota Camry. I always got one too.
Maybe you can try this nice proven technique if you can find a close-by Phila Hertz "smaller" office, ie not the big airport location.

I have in my profile (and also in every individual reservation) request for specific cars. You can request some specific cars, but these are normally only the few that Hertz admits to carrying, not the stragglers they carry anyway.
For example, I really like the Chevy MonteCarlo, even more than the Mustang, and I requested that. However, I couldn't request a MonteCarlo, the best they could do was request a Chevy. In the end I got a Toyota !?!
Today I reserved a Ford Focus and had the agent specifically put in 'Do not upgrade (I HATE CONTOURS) and Ford Focus only' I'll see what happens!
