SUVs with towing capability?

I have never taken notice... Do any of Hertz SUV's Suburban GL450 etc have towing packages? I want to move a few things in Central CA and would prefer to rent a vehicle up in the Bay Area, drive down there, and grab a trailer rather than a Uhaul truck.. I know they may not want renters to do this, but want to know if the vehicles are able to do this.

None of them will have towing packages. Not only do they not want you to do it but it is against the terms and conditions. If you do tow anything and you break down...you're up the creek. If you get in an accident then you'll really be up the creek because since you violated the terms, your insurance can tell you a sad story.

Just rent a U-Haul.

Towing is explicitily forbidden in the contract as spades noted, so don't do it! Sometimes you will come across one equipped, but they are not standard, no way to request one or even ask for exchange to one.

You can find SUV and Trucks w/ tow packages on them, but it is forbidden as the previous posters stated. I have done it a couple of times w/ no problems. I suggest reserving an SUV and then walk the lot once you get there and request specific vehicle. You could also check local editions as prices are usually better there.

If you do, just remember you will not be covered by any insurance policy if you do. None. Nada. Zilch.

Hitch Locked

We had rented a Mercury Mountaineer out of SFO before from Hertz, and the hitch receptacle had a lock on it. I would say Hertz did not want us towing anything with their vehicle.
