Hertz Rates Increase or Decrease closer to rental date?

I plan to rent a car at MDW for a week in April with the USAA rate and was wondering if car rental prices with Hertz tend to increase or decrease as you get closer to the pickup date? If I reserve now and then re-check the rate every two weeks and it keep going decreasing will any red flags be raised by frequent cancellations and re-bookings?

There's no need to cancel and rebook, just go into your reservation and select the lower rate. I just did it for rental next weekend that dropped $10 a day.

Always check your reservations, sometimes it's less, sometimes not. Occasionally when you return the car they receipt you for the first amount and you may need to go to the counter with your confirmation to get it lower, but most times it's not a problem at all.

No problem with that at all!

I make many booking, changes, cancellations and it's never been a problem.

I wouldn't change anything the day before the rental though or for 24 hours before the rental!

I make changes up until the moment I drive off the lot. All that hertz needs to do is reprint your contract at the gold booth.

To the op - some hertz stations employ sophisticated revenue management while others don't. Anectodaly, I hear mdw does adjust up or down up to the day of rental based on stories from chicago based folks loking to do wn rental runs.
