First time visitor

First time visitor to this site, and in August, first time visitor to islands! We're definitely going to Honolulu for a conference - have booked in conference hotel, a Sheraton on Waikiki beach, I believe. Questions:

-If we have time to go to one more island, which is best choice? My husband wants big island (volcanoes) - if we do choose that, where is the best place to stay - not too expensive, but still nice.
-We're going to rent and ride a Harley for part of our trip - any suggestions on that idea?

Any other advice on great restaurants, etc. would be very much appreciated!

Thx,
carolekv

Welcome to FlyerTalk.

I'd like to suggest taking a look at the "sticky" at the top of this forum, as it contains some of the more helpful and informative threads. I suspect you will probably be able to get answers to some of your questions above (and end up with even more).

In short, I think you will enjoy a side trip to the Big Island. If you are going to rent a Harley, the Big Island is a good place to ride - lots of open roads between the towns. You might find the traffic on O`ahu to be annoying when riding. There is a huge motorcycle rally over Labor Day weekend each year on the Big Island.

So, please take a look at the threads our moderators have placed in the sticky, and feel free to post any follow-up information.

I hope you enjoy your trip!

Check Out Tripadvisor.com forum

I'd suggest you check out the Hawaii forum at tripadvisor.com. It's a very active forum and this subject has been discussed at length by tons of travelers attempting to make your same decisions.
