October 13: Partial Solar Eclipse
From Stardate.org:
The Sun is partially eclipsed by the Moon for the Hawaiian Islands and
western Alaska, as well as for Japan, Korea, and eastern Siberia (where the
local date is October 14).
Partial eclipse begins: 7:54 p.m. CDT
Greatest eclipse takes place at 9:59 p.m. CDT
Partial eclipse ends: 12:04 a.m. CDT., Oct. 14
Like Hawaii needs any more magic. I was considering doing some star gazing while on Kauai but here that most resort areas are so lit up that the apparent magnitude of the stars go way down. Does anyone know if Kokee Lodge is illuminated during the evening or does anyone have a favorite star gazing place to recommend?

Thanks for the head's up! Unfortunately, I'd have to drive really far out to see anything spectacular from this... Maybe it'd be a good time to fly to the Big Island.
