Don't misses in Waimea:

Big Island Brewhause: Have to try the "Tall Dark Mandarin" Stout when in season. Kekela Greens with their housemate Falafel.

Dan-O's Doner.

Merrimans.

Pau Pizza in Waimea is great but rather rustic seating outdoors however if youre staying in a residence their fresh bread is epic. FORC is worth the drive in Waimea.

Dan-O's Doner is long gone. We now have a very casual, but good replacement in that center - Ippy Aiona has two places:
Hawaiian BBQ - lunch and dinner
The Dizzy Pita - lunch

Any word on the new restaurants at the Shops at Mauna Lani? Island Hopper Taproom, Alebrije Mexican and Knead & Bake Pizzeria?

The pizza place (really bad) and the Taproom were still open in mid-Feb. The new Mexican place was not. Tommy Bahamas remodel is complete but unfortunately the menu looked the same and our dinner was mediocre. I think there might also be a Thai place coming to The Shops? Dining out has not been great and super expensive. I end up cooking a lot when on Big Island.

Didn't the new Mexican place just open? It was being heavily talked about in a FB group I belong to and I was looking forward to trying it next fall.
