thank you.

we are provisionally booked at the Aina Nalu by Outrigger. It had got consistently good reviews for both its location and quality - and was within budget.

We visited the Ahalanui warm pond many years ago. Unfortunately, it no longer exists. The volcanic eruption of 2018 destroyed them. I would imagine there are now new interesting things to visit in the Hilo (and Puna) area as a result of the 2018 eruption; however, you would need to research it. We haven't been to the Big Island in over 10 years. While we loved it, many of the activities (Hiking Lava Fields, Open Water Snorkeling, Mauna Kea Observatories, etc.) aren't appropriate for young children. There are excellent beaches (Haupuna and Mauna Kea) on the Big Island; however, you can also find them on Maui and to a lesser extent on Oahu and Kauai. So I recommend saving the Big Island for another trip and visiting when your daughter is older and can do more of the activities.

For trips with a younger child (we did two when my daughter was < 5 years old), I recommend Maui and Kauai. I also recommend choosing one place as a base for each island. If you have your heart set on seeing the Arizona Memorial, which is quite nice, then tack on a couple of days at the beginning of the trip to see it when your body clock will still be getting you up early. To avoid crowds, going early (like when it opens) is best for seeing the Arizona. Air Service options, at least pre Covid-19, was best for Oahu followed by Maui. So perhaps fly into Oahu spend 2-3 nights in Waikiki and see the Arizona, fly to Kauai and stay 8 nights, and then fly to Maui and stay 8 nights. Fly home from Maui. Whatever you do it is hard to go wrong visiting Hawaii. We hope to be able to go back some day. We're overdue 5+ years since our last trip.

thanks Jon.

really appreciate your views and they seem to echo what others have said.

Our routing is somewhat fixed as we fly in to Maui and out of HNL.
