Eastern Part of Maui
We are spending a week in Maui, with most of the trip on the Western side. However, we want to drive the Road to Hana and it looks like Haleakala Park and the Pools of Oheo are all East, so we are considering spending a night somewhere on the Eastern side of Maui. Is everything out there condos and B&B, or are there some affordable hotels? Also, are there any towns with restaurants, etc or is most of the Eastern part pretty quiet?

If you have some dough you should go to Mam's Fish House for lunch or dinner. Biking down the volcano is a lot of fun too.

I've posted a response to your hotel question in the existing thread and would invite others to direct their responses there to avoid cross-posting:

Other than Mama's in Paia, you'll find some restaurants in Kahalui and adjoining Wailuku. You can search the following thread using these place names and ask any additional questions there.
