HA Phasing In 767's To Replace DC10's
I see that HA is beginning to replace the old DC10's beginning November 15 (flight 31, HNL to SAN).
Does anybody know the specific rollout schedule? I am most interested if we'll see some changes from HNL to LAX.
Do you think the 767's will be better or worse than the DC-10's? (I have heard that HA is very generous as far as pitch on the 10's, however, I would have to guess the entertainment systems, etc. are outdated).

Thanks. Now, when the 67's go in service in a month or so, I'd appreciate a note to advise on how the plane compares to the old 10's. ie. video, seat pitch & general experience.

Hawaiian Airlines has put up some seat maps of their new 767 planes. Check out http://www.hawaiianair.com/about/767.asp
As you can see, First Class will be 2-2-2, just like the DC-10 was. Since the 767 is a smaller plane than the DC-10 was (DC-10 was 2-5-2 in coach, whereas the 767 is 2-3-2), this means that First Class will be more claustrophic on Hawaiian's new 767s than it was/is on the ole' DC-10.

THe DC-10-10 used on the HNL to LAX route had 34 seats 2-2-2 with a 44" pitch.
The new 767-300 will have the same 2-2-2
(narrower body than a DC 10) and have 42 seats in first class and a pitch of 42"
If you really want to go "first class" to HNL then I reccommend CO Business First with
55" pitch on their 767.

Hawaiian launches first of new 767-300ERs
Hawaiian Airlines sent out the first flight of its new Boeing 767-300ER (extended range) aircraft on its Honolulu-San Diego route yesterday.
The aircraft, seating 18 people in first class in a two-by-two-by-two seat configuration and 234 in coach class in a two-by-three-by-two layout, will be joined by another before year-end, Hawaiian said.
By 2003, Hawaiian will have replaced its entire McDonnell-Douglas DC-10 fleet with the 767-300ER and will have 16 of them in its mainland-Hawaii and Hawaii-South Pacific services, company officials said.
Early this year, Hawaiian started receiving new Boeing 717-200 aircraft to replace the DC-9s in its interisland service and will have the full fleet of 13 of the new planes in service by the end of this year.
The new-generation aircraft are more efficient than the DC-10 and DC-9 and offer a new look and greater comfort, Hawaiian said.
