HA First Class Bumped to Coach
Have a flight from SAN to OGG through HNL on NOV 19. Was FC all the way. Got a call on sch change. Advised will have to wait in HNL until 8 pm to go to OGG in FC, however if you want to give up FC you can go at 2:00 PM in Coach. Seems HA is making out here...why sit for 6 hours in HNL....Anyone I could call and complain??? They are in drivers seat it seems.

Paid for FC all the way.

Agreed that it is annoying, but the flight HNL-OGG is ~30 minutes.
You might call them and ask for a partial refund, or HA miles to compensate, but I'd take the earlier flight and spend those hours on Maui not in the airport.
And AQ doesn't have F anymore, so that's not an option.
Interisland F on HA is nice, but it's not that nice. Now if it were the mainland-HNL segment that would be a different story.

i agree with cblaisd. write an inquiring letter to customer relations. incidentally, how did you pay? did you just buy an f ticket on the web site or did you buy an economy and upgrade with miles? if you did the former, i think they might be more inclined to compensate in some minor way. but as cblaisd said, it is fast and the difference is small. if you get exit row on the 717, it has more room than f.

Thanks jtkauai and cblaisd for the insight. I too agree it is not the flight that is the problem...it is the principle. I inquired about a refund and was denied...just think HA is taking advantage. Originally had the earlier flight in FC...paid for and then all of a sudden it was not available. Still am FC from the mainland. Just frustrated there is no recorse.

I would suggest that you contact Consumer Affairs requesting a partial refund or a Transportation Credit Order for the difference in your fare paid in F-class SAN-OGG with HNL-OGG in Y-class.
If Hawaiian did a schedule change it is their responsibility to get you to your final destination in the class of service you paid or comparable service, however 8 hours is beyond their "Customer First" policy for a reasonable connection in HNL.
It wouldn't hurt to write and see what you could get in compensation.
