Does anyone know how to upgrade without having to pay the difference between coach and first costs? Am in several airline programs but none seem to have a share with Aloha. Any suggestions for strategies? Appreciate the help....am AA Plat, Delta Gold, NWA Silver....I fly too much!!!!!!!
Thanks for the help...

Others here know better than I, but my understanding is that you usually have only four ways to get in Aloha F:
1) buy it -- with the AAA discount, the difference between Y and F can be as little as $500 RT. You might want to check that.
2) award ticket, either with Aloha or partner miles.
3) upgrade with Aloha miles.
4) same day upgrade for around $250 each way (when available).
So, there's your quick, dirty and possibly inaccurate answer. It stands ready for correction by the AQ regulars.

Thanks for the info. Do you know how the same day upgrade works? Just ask at the gate? I have never seen anything on the 250...when I inquired once before they said I had to pay the difference in ticket price!

Unfortunately this is no longer available. I'm working on putting a trip together for the holidays and immediately called AAA this morning upon reading this and was informed that the benefit had been discontinued. However, I hadn't realized all the other discount perks members are given so good call anyway!Originally Posted by dhuey

1. No mileage upgrades are allowed at this time.
2. Yes, AAA discount has been discontinued.
3. Look at your ticket for the fare that you purchased.
These are the $$$ you need to pay to upgrade to F/C.
Based on o/w upgrades on their flight to the mainland.
a. $200.00 - ( Y,B,H & M )
b. $300.00 - ( L & V )
c. $400.00 - ( M,Q & Z )
Call AQ reservations and these are what you have to pay
to upgrade to f/c.
Hint: If there is lots of room available in f/c, you might want to inquire about ( M,Q & Z ) fares, if the price is negotiable. Who knows they might sell it for $300.00.

Upgrading on Aloha
We are flying Aloha (mainland to Hawaii) at the end of February and are looking for ways to upgrade. We have tons of UA miles, but I guess you can't use them.
Anyone know if they give upgrade certificates away with the Aloha Credit Card?
Sounds like we could also try for same day upgrade.
Anyone have any other ideas?

Have you already booked the tickets? IIRC, you cannot use UA miles to upgrade on AQ, but you can use them for a FC award ticket:Originally Posted by bmurray

You can upgrade your coach ticket to F/C on the day of departure for $300.00 each way. I hear that passengers that fly to John Wayne Airport(SNA) usually purchase those last minute upgrades if they are available. As far as using frequent flyer miles to upgrade AQ does not allowed it, you would have to redeem F/C tickets before you start your travel. Originally Posted by bmurray

As Slippahs said, 60K UA miles for an AQ F Class is a great use of points - just see my thread on the UA forum about being sure the seats are confirmed on the AQ end!Originally Posted by bmurray
