Changing Interisland Flights: Question

Aloha,

I have already changed one interisland flight and it was a $30 charge. No big deal and easy to do.(AA changed our arrival time into HNL. Didn't want to wait around for four hours...anyhow). I am considering changing ur interisland flights from LIH to OGG.

When I pull up the pricing chart, choose a flight, it says start new itinerary. When I click on the tab it states that rebooking is more expensive than establishing a new itinerary.

To me, it is forcing me to make a new reservation at a cheaper price. My question, what happens to my original reservation? Do I have a credit with HA, can I roll that ticket cost into new itinerary, etc?
