Any suggestions as to where to stay which is close to the bars/nightlife and sites???

I have stayed at the Plaka Hotel, and stay there again.

It is right in the heart of the Plaka and has a great rooftop patio with views of the Acropolis.

We stayed at the Fresh Hotel, great location right in the heart of things, fantastic roof top pool and bar with views straight out to the Acropolis, rooms aren't huge but are big enough and have everything you need. Great cocktails too!
