Having done LavLaw in the past, for most people its just a party opportunity. When I was a law student, I was one of the only law students who attended the substantive panels. I know lots of folks who attend to "recruit" and no one has ever actually recruited someone. If you are attending a law school that a firm is interested in recruiting at, you'll get recruited on campus. If you are attending a law school they're not interested in, well, being at a career fair aint gonna help.

I'm getting a free trip to San Francisco out of it :-) My law school and the school's gay student group are footing the bill for the registration, hotel, and most of the airfare. That being said, if there is a year to go for substantive reasons, this one is probably it.
