I'm curious what others do with the information posted in this thread. While I am interested in meeting other FTers, and while I often see people passing through my home airport of SFO, I am hesitant about contacting people I don't know. I'm also frustrated that the user profiles here tell me absolutely nothing about a person. When you see a user passing through your town, do you try to meet him/her in person?

I use this thread to keep up with what some FTers I've come to know--whether in person, because we met somewhere along the line, or just as a screenname personality. That's interesting enough. I've received nice PM's from folks doing the same about me, such as this past week when I was going to Thailand during the civil unrest. I've also used this thread to see when FTers will be at the same airport as me at the same time, a chance for a brief meeting in a lounge. Or, more significantly, I've used this thread to see when FTers will be in the same city as me on holiday-- that's actually fairly common for me in BKK, and I've met quite a number of FTers (mostly Americans) there.

Yes, it seems that I am never in NY when you're here, but yet BKK is like next door for the both of us!To Derick, yeah, I think Megatop sums it up nicely. I've even met friends of FTers via this thread...Megatop's in fact, whom I've become good friends with and would never have met had I not posted that I was going to be traveling on a near identical itinerary in Thailand.

That's right, RChavez. I forgot that's how you met my friend, who's not even an FTer. RChavez lives in Hell's Kitchen, and my friend lives about thirty blocks away in Chelsea. Where did they meet? Phuket.
RChavez and I finally met up in BKK last year, after several missed attempts.
Thanks to the Itineraries thread, I also figured out that a number of G FTers would be on the same AKL itinerary as me and a couple of other friends back in November 2007 (the UA mistake fare via SYD). And I used this thread to meet UVAhoo in Bali last Thanksgiving, nearly five years after we originally met in Bangkok, also thanks to this thread.
