It seems that IML will be much less bustling this year due to the strife within the leather community? I heard that several porn companies have been banned from the leather market and as a result many are boycotting IML this year.

I wonder if rates will come down because of this.

I haven't booked anything yet. It would be nice if prices came down a bit for the Hyatt. I'm not a big fan of the Hard Rock, although the rate is great.

Well IML banned condom less sex companies mostly or something to that cause. I guess a lot of people have become so complacent about HIV that IML took a stand.

I'm sure it will have a great crowd!

Actually, that decision was more about politics between porn companies than anything else.

Doubtful, those porn companies are banned like TIM (bareback porn), so unless you and the others are all into bareback only, then basically there is no affect at all. Yes, I know there are plenty of bareback parties around IML, but that is not the mainstream.

You do know that the person who initial IML also own man's country right ? Man's country is a bathhouse, and bathhouse = many bareback sex. If he is so against about barebacking, don't you think he should shut down its own club in the first place ? In a matter of fact, he actually shut down his own gay bar next door to man's country, and expand the size of man's country. Now isn't he promoting more bareback sex ?

^+1

No matter bareback porn companies exist or not, guys still bareback behind the doors, nowsdays people use internet to download rather than DVD, as most of them are free, instead of have to purchase $50+ DVD when it is full price. Besides, there are plenty of straight porn are all barebacking, and no one say a word of it, now how does it stop promoting the spread of HIV ?

I love IML and have been going every year since 2001. Each year it has more of the circuit party type boys instead of guys into leather.

They have prohibited barebacking videos and have banned a couple vendors that promote barebacking. I am not sure how that is going to effect attendance. Hyatt still has rooms left, which is very unusual for the host hotel. Usually they are sold out by March at the latest. It could be due to the ecnomy or other things.

If anyone here is staying at the Hyatt and is a costco member, Costco has $100 hyatt gift cards for $79.99. Good way to save 20% off your rate.

I wish it was back at the Hilton this year or better yet the palmer house. The only time I ever stay at Hyatt is if they are the IML host hotel so I have no status. I am always gold or diamond with Hilton and it makes the stay a lot more enjoyable if it's a hilton property.

Good advice on the Costo Gift Certs for Hyatt.

Also, you can get "instant" Platinum status at Hyatt - see the Hyatt forum for details

I got an Email from IML updates today. They are eliminating the three day minimum stay requirement at Hyatt now and you can book for only one or two days.

This has me concerned IML might not be as successful this year. Usually the hotel is booked up by March. I have never seen them allow less than a three day minimum.

Thanks for the heads up on the Hyatt offer. I never read that forum since I never stay at hyatt and found the info and really appreciate it. If anyone is going to IML and staying at the hyatt I recomend taking advantage of this. They will give you platnium for 180 days which means free internet during the stay.

With the hyatt deal at Costco, they still had them at my club tonight and if you are staying for 3 nights it will pay for your costco memberhsip right there. One catch is they are paper certificates for $100 and not cards so you have to use the entire $100 at one time and it can't be used on the deposit of the first night. But if you are staying three nights the balance due will be just a little over $400 on a regular room so 4-$100 cards comes out to $320, which is a savings of $80 and the costco membership is only $50, so it's a bargain if you live near a costco.

Slight correction each of the $79.99 "package" of Hyatt Check Certs is actually 2 of the $50 ones (not 1 $100) - so actually a bit more flexible. Can you tell I'm also the Hyatt mod?

You're right, my bad Sorry.

Hyatt must be doing a pride weekend special too. In the IML update email I received, it said anyone staying at the Hyatt for IML would be entered in a drawing for a free pride package.

From what I understand, there is mandatory HIV testing of all straight porn stars and they mut produce certificates before they can work.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Pornographic_actor

In the 1980s, an outbreak of HIV led to a number of deaths of erotic actors and actresses, including John Holmes, Wade Nichols, Marc Stevens, Al Parker. This led to the creation of the Adult Industry Medical Health Care Foundation, which helped set up a voluntary standard[16] in the U.S. adult film industry where erotic actors are tested for HIV every 30 days.
