Munich - Night Photos

Will be in MUC this weekend and am looking forward to getting both daytime and evening photos of the Marienplatz area including the churches.

Any good spots or places I should try to position myself to get the best possible photos? (Hoping we have good weather.

I will be there too this weekend (Sat), probably doing the same. I am thinking about going to the Residenz, BMW Welt and Olympic Park and end up at Marienplatz at night for more photos and dinner.

Question: Does the Allianz Arena lit up at night normally, or only on match day? It will be cool to take a picture when it lit up with different color.

Yes, it is lit every night until 9 or 10pm (not exactly sure).
I guess the color changes about every 5 min from white to red to blue.
In the first time after the arena was opend, they used to make light changes everey 10 seconds and different light effects which were very cool.

Unfortunatelly this caused several car-crashes, as some drivers got distracted by this light show.
So they changed to the more simple light changes :-(

There are picture opportunities all over Munich, just look around. Don't forget that great pics can be had inside buildings as well. Cathedrals and some very old beer halls just to name a few. Often times, all you have to do is look up.

You can take a look at mine from last month when it was snowing there, right on the front page linked below, to get an idea what awaits you.

Thanks Tom, great shots! I enjoyed your photos - seems like the snow likes to follow you first DUB then MUC

Where was photo ie P1110087 snow during the day, page 6 taken? Very cool looking.

I probably won't get photos as nice as yours since dh has "strongly suggested" I leave my DSLR at home and use my point and shoot since I'm solo on this trip.
