Transportation from/to MUC to City

Going to be visiting Munich and wanted to know the transportation options from the airport to the city.

How much is a taxi?
Can you get there by rail/train?
Airport shuttle busses?

Any advice would be appreciated.

Danke!

Wouldn't bother with a taxi - the S-Bahn is quick and efficient (unless you have lots of bags). S1 faster to the west side of the city, S8 faster to the east side, though not much of a difference if going to Hbf/Karlsplatz-Stachus/Marienplatz.

An all-day all-zone ticket is something like 12 eur (someone please correct me on this).

The Lufthansa airport bus runs from the airport to the Hauptbahnhof, picking up across the street from the Eden Hotel Wolff. Dunno on pricing, but schedule-wise I believe it's pretty close to the S-Bahn in terms of time.

Only word of caution would be that the last time I rode the S-Bahn (S1 if it matters), it split into two trains at one stop, with the front half going elsewhere and the back half going to the airport. Most (if not all) of the announcements were in German, so those who speak none might be caught off-guard and end up somewhere they didn't want to be...

The all-day all-zone ticket is 10 Euro for one person. If you are going to be there for at least a couple of days, will be using the subway, trams or buses, and have more than one person, I've found the best deal is to get a 3-day 'Innenraum' partner card which covers up to 5 people traveling together in the inner zone (most of everything you'll want to get to) for 21 Euro. Then you also have to buy a partner 'Aussenraum' (outer ring) ticket to get up to five people from the airport to the inner zone (9 Euro). They don't offer a 3-day Aussenraum ticket so you have to buy another one for the day you go back. (Assuming you have been there less than 3 days or have bought another inner-ring ticket along the way.)

Things like this are displayed on the signs above the platform. Just watch the train that you board. It'll have letters A-F (or A-D, depending on the length, I don't remember), and position of the train with respect to those letters on the platform.

Thanks to you all for your responses. The S1 and the S8 worked really well! ^
