Hotels in Frankfurt

I will be in Frankfurt on a Sunday next month, leaving the next morning on a flight back to US. It looks like the U-Bahn goes right to the Airport. Should I stay in the city center or near the airport. And if by airport, do the hotels have shuttles to the airport???

It's just as easy to stay in the city. You can easily get out to the airport via S-Bahn from the main train station, or any of the other stations around the city center. The S8 or S9 go right past the airport. I have photos from my visits this year linked below.

You don't write how long you will stay on Sunday in FRA.

However, I can give you some information:

-There is a Starwood right at the (in) the airport .. it might be expensive.
There are other hotels nearby.
-The S-Bahn connects FRA with Hauptbahnhof and may be Hauptwache
-I came just back from Frankfurt and got two 4-star hotels (Moevenpick and Marriott) for under $100 each ($ NOT Euro) trough Priceline. You are on a weekend, so there is a great chance that you get a good price too.

I've done three stays this year at the Hotel National, near the train station, for $60-70 a night and would stay there again. They have free internet terminals in the lobby, and just a block from the main train station (Hauptbahnof). I know two other FTers that have also stayed there this year.

How much do you want to spend? If you plan to visit the city, stay there. The airport is not so far away.

A nice hotel is the Lindner Main Plaza http://www.lindner.de/en/MP/

On their Website the price is 84,- for 1 Person + Breakfast (I think it's quite expensive with 26,-)

They have an airport shuttle for 25,- http://www.lindner.de/en/MP/120Direc...omplexdoc_view

Of course there are also all main hotel chains in town.

Hotel Excelsior was a great bargain for us. It's right by the train station, you get an amazing breakfast, the minibar is free, Internet access is free, some magazines and newspapers are free, local calls are free, and I'm sure I'm missing something. The rooms are spacious and the beds a good size. It's not the most up to date hotel, but we quite enjoyed our stay here.

Be careful if you decide to stay at the airport as the only Hotel that is really at the Airport is the Sheraton - you just walk across a footbridge - but if there are a lot of trade fairs in Frankfurt then it can get busy and the prices go up in response. Many of the other "AirPort" Hotels such as the NH and the Holiday Inn aren't - they are about a 20 min drive away and this is reflected in the price. However they do have shuttles. Check their web sites.

All in all central Frankfurt is more interesting - just depends how long your lay-over is.

I have not stayed there, but the Steigenberger Airport Hotel can clearly be seen from the FRA terminal windows (especially from T2). Their website claims a 24-hour, every-15-minute shuttle to and from the terminals. Their prices tend to be lower than the near usurious rates that the Sheraton sometimes charges:
