Question about EU compensation law

Hi,
I was on a direct flight from DEL to LAX with a technical halt at FRA, but flight broke down at FRA leaving me stranded at FRA for 2 days. The airline staff provided Food, blankets ,calling cards, no hotel since they could not arrange for Transit visa. I was eventually provided with an alternate flight. Am I eligible for compensation under EU laws since flight broke down at FRA.

Thanks for your time.
