We are thinking of getting a cheap Ryanair flight from BIQ to HHN and connecting on a package trip out of FRA. Can anyone tell me the logistics of getting from one airport to the other? Thanks.

Look into Lufthansa flights too, they are having a sale right now, so you may be able to find some good pricing.

Bohr busses run between Frankfurt Hahn - Frankfurt Airport - Mainz - Frankfurt city,

Schedules can be found on the Frankfurt Hahn website:

The OP needs to travel from BIQ (Biarritz). LH don't go there. Only way to get from BIQ to FRA is AF via CDG or LYS.

Thanks for the link to the website. Its just what we needed. The bus is very reasonable but it seems like quite a trip, 1hr 45min!

Checking for somebody, are there any reasonable one-way carrental rates available, e.g. pick-up in HHN and drop in FRA?

Quite a stretch to call this airport "Frankfurt", never the less the fare difference can be significant compared to LHs FRA service.

Calling that airport "Frankfurt Hahn" is quite deceptive indeed, its nearly 100 miles / 150km to Frankfurt.

IMO the cheapest option would be taking the bus (going by car wouldnt be too much faster).

Anyhow, heres a list of all car rental companies at HHN:

HHN being called Frankfurt airport is about the same if Biarritz is called Toulouse airport or Boston considered as New York airport. The scheme is pretty simple: Get a (remote) distant airport with low landing fees, connect it to one of the next major cities, organize a bus tour with at least 1 hour travel, ...

If you do have some connecting flight from FRA then take plenty of extra time. Have you thought about starting out of Bordeaux? It might be less hassle.

The bus station at HHN is right next to the airport. I must have flown into and out of his airport about 12 times in 2007. I found the buses to be extremely convenient and very much on time. If you need a place to stay near the Hahn airport, I recommend the Hotel Venezia. It's clean, reasonably priced, includes break fast and they will come and get you and bring you back to the airport.

This airport is kind of like a Ryanair hub.

What are you doing in BIQ? Renting a car? Another option would be fly to BIO and rent a car there, you would be able to fly to FRA from there. Less hassle IMHO.
